Katens, Gorabs, Ougiles, and Azars
Katen: We trace our Katen ancestry back to Saman. He was born around 1735 in Homs, Syria. He may have come from the Turkish area. He is my 6th great grandfather.
Gorab: The earliest roots we find for the Gorab family trace back to Abd-Allah Gorab. We believe he was born, circa 1790 and died circa 1850. Abd-Allah is Angelle's great-grandfather. The Gorab and Katen family joined in marriage when Shakir, Badie's father, married Nabiaha Gorab in 1894 in Homs.
Ougile: We understand that Museff Ougil and his wife are the parents of Rose Oujile. Rose is Angelle's mother's family.
Azar: We can only trace the Azar family back to Bishara. He was Angelle's father.
Alwon, Assatly, Zrake, Guro, and Helou
Alwon: Boutras Alwan's father was born in Birute Syria (Lebanon and Syria were part of Turkey). His son Nami (b.1849 d. 1917) is Jido Nick's father.
Assatly: Jido's mother, Jamily Assatly was born in 1870 and died in 1916. Her parents were John Assatly and Helen Guro.
Zrake: Taita Alwon's father, George Zrake died in 1911 in Damascus, Syria.
Helou: Taita Alwon's mother, Lizette Helou died in Damascus in 1914.
Guro: We don't know anything about Helen or her family.
